Implant Placement Step by Step – the Treatment Process
A dental implant is a precisely planned process carried out in several carefully coordinated steps – from 3D diagnostics through guided implant placement to the final crown fitted by your family dentist.
From the first consultation to lifelong aftercare: every phase is carefully planned, transparently communicated and tailored to your personal result.

Treatment process
- Phase 1 · DiagnosticsInitial consultation & examination: In a detailed consultation we determine together whether an implant is the right solution for you – honestly, transparently and as equals. This includes taking your medical history, 3D CBCT (DVT) diagnostics and a clinical examination of teeth, gums and oral hygiene (approx. 45–60 min.).
- Phase 2 · PlanningIndividual treatment planning: Based on the 3D diagnostics we create your personal treatment plan including a transparent treatment and cost estimate – with millimetre-precise digital implant planning and, where necessary, the planning of bone grafting (approx. 1–2 weeks).
- Phase 3 · PreparationOptional bone grafting: If there is not enough bone, we create the foundation for a stable implant using a gentle augmentation procedure such as a sinus lift or bone augmentation. This phase is omitted when there is sufficient bone (healing 3–6 months).
- Phase 4 · SurgeryGentle implant placement: The implant is placed into the jawbone minimally invasively and painlessly – guided by a surgical template using a premium titanium implant and, if desired, under sedation (twilight sedation) supervised by an anaesthetist (approx. 30–60 min.).
- Phase 5 · HealingOsseointegration & healing: The implant fuses firmly with the jawbone – the basis for the long-term stability of your new teeth. Regular check-ups, temporary restorations and PRF (autologous blood) accompany the healing process (3–6 months).
- Phase 6 · ExposurePlacing the abutment: After successful healing, the abutment – the connector to the later crown – is fitted and the gum is shaped aesthetically. A digital or conventional impression is then taken (approx. 20–30 min.).
- Phase 7 · RestorationCrown at your family dentist: The final crown, bridge or denture is made and fitted in close coordination with your family dentist and the dental laboratory. Bite, function and aesthetics are checked and fine-tuned (approx. 2–3 appointments).
- Phase 8 · AftercareLong-term support: With regular aftercare and professional maintenance, your implant stays stable and healthy for the long term. Structured recall and check-up appointments together with professional dental cleaning (PZR) protect against peri-implantitis (lifelong).

Frequently asked questions
Is implant placement painful?
Implant placement is carried out minimally invasively and painlessly. On request, the procedure can be performed under sedation (twilight sedation) supervised by an anaesthetist.
When is bone grafting necessary?
If there is not enough bone for a stable implant, we create the necessary foundation using a gentle augmentation procedure such as a sinus lift or bone augmentation. When there is sufficient bone, this step is omitted.
Why does healing take 3–6 months?
During this time osseointegration takes place: the implant fuses firmly with the jawbone and thus forms the basis for the long-term stability of the new teeth.
Which aftercare is important after implant placement?
What matters are structured recall and check-up appointments, careful home care with dental floss and interdental brushes, and regular professional dental cleaning (PZR), which protects against peri-implantitis.
